NCD Alliance Georgia received a UN Inter-Agency Task Force Award, recognizing our work in tackling obesity in Georgia.
In many low- and middle-income countries, formal healthcare systems face challenges in providing comprehensive support due to limited budgets, understaffed clinics, and systemic barriers. Meanwhile, there are many professionals — doctors, psychologists, coaches, and nutritionists — who are eager to contribute but lack accessible, structured channels to volunteer.
The Georgia NCD Alliance has developed an approach that transforms volunteering into a win-win collaboration. By connecting specialists with communities, people living with obesity gain access to free, high-quality knowledge, psychological support, and community-based guidance that would otherwise be out of reach.
This model shows how, even where financial resources are limited, social capital can be mobilized to create a culture of shared responsibility for health.
Such volunteering platforms can be replicated beyond obesity care — supporting NCD prevention, mental health, and community well-being — offering a sustainable, scalable model where collaboration drives transformation.
